Safe
Kids
Reports of missing kids have
hit the headlines a lot recently. Here are a couple of tools you can
use to keep your kids safe.
There's a new DVD out geared
to kids ages 5 to 10 called "The Safeside." the dvd was created by
the woman behind Baby Einstein and the host of America's Most
Wanted, John Walsh.
The idea behind "The
Safeside" is to entertain while teaching kids life-saving lessons.
Parents should sit down and watch with their children. You might
consider it a refresher course for you, and remember to use any
chance you have to reinforce the safety messages.
Every second counts if a
child is missing. Experts say 74 percent of abducted children who
are murdered are dead within three hours of the abduction. That's
the selling point of something called the Safety Key.
You hang the Safety Key on
your keychain at all times, in case of an emergency. The key can be
plugged in to any computer running Microsoft Windows. It will
instantly load information and pictures of your child onto the
Internet, and let you print posters as well.
You can buy the DVD at the
safeside.com
for about $20. The Safety Key by Lifelynx sells for about $60.
