Q BACKUP LAUNCHES AS MOST COST EFFECTIVE SERVER AND

SMALL BUSINESS BACKUP SYSTEM EVER

“You’re in safe hands”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 2006

Qual-IT, the London based business and residential computer equipment support and supplier has announced the anticipated launch of its brand new software based Windows Small Business Server and Exchange backup system, Q Backup.

The system is the most cost effective on the market for the level of quality, coming in at a cost of £85.00 per server in comparison to £561.00 per server from its nearest competitor Symantec. Average time spent is also vastly reduced in installation and maintenance with the extremely simple to understand Installation Wizard that asks a few simple questions after which everything is completely automated. No IT knowledge is required.

Q-Backup is the brainchild of ex Microsoft IT veteran, Nick Christou, Director of Qual-IT. The product looks to offer a truly innovative alternative to the way small businesses and home office workers have backed up their data to date.

Traditionally users of a Server would need an expensive tape driven system and often even more expensive software to go with it – as well as the mounting peripheral costs of an engineer to install the whole package.

Costs then continue to escalate when you find out there are additional charges for backing up your email system or a specific database on your server and also to backup data on laptops or desktop computers also on your network.

“Q-Backup has an extremely simple procedure for getting it in place and it does not require any special knowledge or an engineer installation.” Explains Suzanne Tompkins, Sales and Marketing Manager for Qual-IT. ”Once our client has purchased a backup drive of their choice, or taken an Internet Backup subscription with us, or indeed anyone else - they can then download and install Q-Backup from the website. A friendly and extremely simple Wizard then guides them through setting the backup to protect their Servers, laptops, desktop machines and hand held devices.”

Q-Backup takes a completely different approach to systems available to date whereby it puts the user back in control and allows the buyer the right of freedom, flexibility and choice.

Q-Backup is a software system that can be downloaded from the Internet and used with any kind of backup hardware on the market including the extremely cost effective USB and Firewire external hard disk drives. Q-Backup however is not limited to these and can be used with USB key ring memory sticks, shared folders on remote computers, Internet backup, large scale disk backup hardware – or literally anything else.

The Wizard has seven simple steps to follow after which the backup process is completely automatic and can be run to a schedule or run manually. Users are informed when the backup has finished by an extremely detailed, yet simple to understand backup report. There are no disks or tapes to change and there is absolutely no maintenance - ever.

Although the Q-Backup user interface appears to be incredibly simple, so that anyone in the organisation can set up their company’s backup strategy in literally minutes, behind the scenes lies a different story.

Q-Backup commands deep access to the “core” of the system via the Windows Console and has some extremely powerful abilities, including the capability of backing up systems whilst they are running without shutting anything down and the ability to backup mail servers like Microsoft Exchange with no interruption to the service.  Web servers can be backed up along with Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory, again with no interruption to the service or downtime of the server.

For the more technically savvy, Q-Backup incorporates advanced features including a powerful scripting engine whereby you can customise your backups operation, amongst others.

“Q-Backup can be run whenever you like, you don’t need to worry about running it out of hours, although we suggest users do run their backups at night if they can.” “We know backup is nothing new, but we are hoping to get noticed for simplicity, functionality and price. We do not believe anything else on the market will do what Q-Backup does for anywhere near the cost.” – commented Nick Christou, Director of Qual-IT
