In addition to a package of screenwriting support and software, the first prize winner also attracts a cash prize of £500, with cash prizes for the four other shortlisted finalists. There will also be consolation prizes for the 100 making the long list. He set up Screenwriting Goldmine to share the experience and insight he has gleaned working as a professional writer for television, radio, theatre and other media. He is currently series script editor for CBBC’s ‘The Dumping Ground’, and was script doctor for the Irish TV thriller series ‘An Bronntannas’ (‘The Gift’) which will debut in Eire later on this year. In the past he has worked on ‘Grange Hill’, ‘Casualty’, ‘The Bill’ and ‘Crossroads’ and wrote two feature length episodes of the Lynda La Plante’s ‘Prime Suspect’, and ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’. His Radio 4 play, ‘Legsy Gets A Break’ was nominated for a Sony Award, while ‘Mad Girl’ was shortlisted for a Medical Journalists Association award in 2013. Philip has also had two plays produced professionally by Talking Scarlet. His e-books offer a practical step-by-step guide to writing a screenplay using his tried and trusted methodology gained working on UK television shows.
